Moving into a new apartment is a sign of change. Whether your address is the only thing changing, or you're moving across the country, changing jobs, or moving in with a significant other, change can be overwhelming! This makes it even more important to have a living space you can feel comfortable and cozy in. Check out the tips below to make your new apartment feel like home.
Plants, Plants & More Plants

Greenery is a great way to brighten up a space. Not only are they pretty, but plants in your living space will boost productivity, reduce stress, and improve air quality along with so many more benefits! If you want to start small add a few succulents near your kitchen sink. If you're ready to go big, add a Fiddle-Leaf fig or a Dracaena pot to your living room. And if you want to stick with the fake plants - we wont judge!
Invest in Good Lighting

Good lighting = good mood. It's so important! If you're new apartment lights are too yellow for your taste or so bright they feel like hospital lighting, swap out the bulbs to the temperature you prefer. Also add some cozy lamps through the apartment, they add character and allow you to have a light on when you don't want to use the overhead light.
Dress Up Your Floors With Rugs

I appreciate high quality hardwood as much as the next girl, but rugs just add that little extra something that every room needs. Whether it's a splash of color, texture, or just pure comfort you're looking for, you can always count on rugs to dress up a room. If you're not into a large area rug, consider front door mats, hallway runners, stair runners, or kitchen sink mats to add a little personality and comfort into your new home.
Add your Favorite Scent

Scents can trigger so many emotions, so why not use it to your advantage in your own home? Either stick to your favorite scent or change it with the seasons - there are so many to choose from! Lavender is best for relaxation, eucalyptus helps heal sinuses, and lemon boosts your mood. I usually just pick my favorite!
If candles aren't your thing, you can use an oil diffuser, incense, room spray, or a wax warmer. It will really take you from blah to spa!
Personal Photos

There's no better way to make a place feel like home than images of your loved ones on the wall! While we can't always live near friends and family, personal photos are a great way to remind you of the people in your life.
If that's not your style, consider hanging photos or wall prints of your favorite vacation spot, favorite quote or favorite artist.
Decorate for the Holidays

I'm a big fan of celebrating both the big and small holidays, because life's too short to miss a chance to celebrate! Adding seasonal touches to your home - whether garland on the stairs for Christmas or hearts on the windows for Valentine's Day - use any holiday as an excuse to brighten up your space and make it a little more cheerful!
I've moved around plenty of times - living with family, friends, new roommates, and by myself. These tip have helped me make my news spaces feel a little more like home. Have any more tips? Share them in the comments below!
